Recruiting - engineers and producers

You will learnthe craft.

We are looking for people who want to engineer recordings professionally and are hungrier for that than for a steady desk job. You learn the craft here on real sessions and start earning from it. You do not need a client base of your own to start.

A link to one track you engineered start to finish is enough.

Work at a recording studio in Warsaw

In short: We are looking for people who want to engineer recordings professionally and are hungrier for that than for a steady desk job. We work at Mickiewicza 9 in Żoliborz, across three control rooms and a Master Room, 600 meters from Gdanski railway station. Two roads lead into the team: with clients of your own you go straight onto preferential room rates, and without them you start with sessions here and with work alongside sessions run by other people. The path runs from client, through freelancer, to session engineer. You put your own name forward for the next rung, and we review it based on your sessions, your material and what your clients say.

Two roads

There are two ways into the team and both are open.

Some people arrive with a client base already built and are looking for a place where that base gets better conditions than it has now. Others arrive with material recorded in their bedroom and a plan to change that. The two roads differ in pace, not in where they lead.

You arrive with material and no clients

You start with sessions here and with work alongside sessions run by other people, watching the craft of someone with more mileage on a real recording rather than on a course. Meanwhile you build your first jobs. Once they come in regularly, you put your name forward for the next rung.

You arrive with clients of your own

You go straight to the second rung. You rent the room at a preferential rate and work on our gear from the first week. Whatever you agreed with your clients stays yours, and you pay us for studio time.

What changes

What changes in your week once you are in.

  • Entry at any hour once the booking is made. A session at two in the morning is not an exception here, it is a normal working mode.
  • Three control rooms and a Master Room across 154 square meters, which means acoustics you cannot build in your own room for any money.
  • Gear you do not have to buy in order to learn on it. The Master Room runs L707A Signature speakers, a monitoring chain on the Ravenna protocol, a Merging Horus interface and Mytek converters. Studio 1 gives you a collection of analog gear, near-field and mid-field monitors and a live-sounding booth.
  • Someone who listens to what you made and tells you what to fix before a mistake settles into a habit.
  • An address 600 meters from Gdanski railway station, so commuting from outside Warsaw is workable even while you still live somewhere else.
  • A way in without quitting your current job or school overnight. You start with single sessions and move to full speed once this begins to carry you.

The last two items on this list matter most, because the commute and the schedule are what most often stop people who otherwise have everything they need.

The way up

Three rungs and the condition for moving up each one.

You record here

Who gets in
You book sessions and build a history at Flightcore.
Access
The studio during booked hours.
Money
At this stage you pay for the session like any client.
What opens the next rung
The wish to move up and a statement of how many regular clients you have. You put your name forward, we accept it or turn it down.

You work on preferential terms

Who gets in
You have clients of your own, or jobs built up here.
Access
Rental at a preferential rate, entry at any hour of the day or night.
Money
You settle your fee directly with your clients and pay us for studio time. The rate is agreed in conversation.
What opens the next rung
A completed internship, good words from your clients and the wish to join our online booking. On this rung you cannot run a recording studio of your own.

You run sessions as a session engineer

Who gets in
You run sessions at a level we put our name to.
Access
Your own profile and your own calendar in our booking system.
Money
Bookings from the platform come straight to you, and we take a commission on the session once it happens.
What opens the next rung
Access to our client base and promotion of your personal brand by the studio.

We count no points and no percentage toward the next level. You put your own name forward for the next rung, and we review it based on your sessions, your material and what your clients say.

Money

Where the money comes from.

On the first rung you are not earning from this yet. You are learning on sessions and building your first jobs. We say that plainly, because this is the point where most people drop out.

On the second rung the studio charges a reduced rate for the room, and you set and settle your own fee directly with the client. Our cut covers the room and the gear, so your rate stays your decision.

On the third rung commissions come in from sessions with clients who reach you through the platform. Online bookings land on your profile, and settlement follows the session. Exact amounts are agreed in conversation, because they depend on how many sessions you run and which rooms you work in.

How we work

What this looks like here day to day.

Six brands work under one roof: Dister, Gery, IDEA, EMKAIX, SAMI and SOSI. Each one runs its own sessions and its own artists, so you have people around you who have done this professionally for years. A question asked in the control room at two in the morning gets an answer, not a lecture.

You get notes on the material at every stage, and they are always about the work, not about you. They end with the next move, because a note without a next move is useless.

We require one thing that is not open to negotiation. You have to want to know more in six months than you do today, and you have to show it through the work rather than through a declaration.

How we tell that someone fits

  • You hear the difference and you can name it, not only feel it.
  • A session with you starts on time and ends with a file that still opens a year later.
  • The client leaves feeling taken seriously, whatever their listener count.
  • When you cannot do something, you say so straight away and learn it before the next session.
  • You go back to your own mix from a year ago and you see the mistakes in it.

Plainly

When it is better not to apply.

  • When you want fixed hours from 9 to 5 and a predictable payout every month. Work on recordings does not look like that and we will not change it.
  • When you want to be right more often than you want a good listen.
  • When you have no way to reach a session that starts late and finishes later.
  • When only your own music interests you. That is fine, but then you are our client, not a candidate for the team.
  • When you run a recording studio of your own. On the session engineer rung the two exclude each other.

After you apply

Three steps from application to your first session.

  1. You send the form with a link to your material. It takes a few minutes and costs nothing.

  2. We listen to what you sent. The application lands in our panel and a member of the board reviews it, not an automated system.

  3. If it fits, we arrange a meeting at the studio and a trial session together. After it both sides know whether this makes sense.

At this stage you sign nothing and pay for nothing.

Application

Apply to the team.

What matters most is what you send in the link. The rest of the fields will take you a minute.

One track you engineered start to finish is enough. YouTube, SoundCloud, Google Drive or anything that opens.

We want to know how long you have been recording, what you work on today and what you want to learn over the next year.

Fields marked with an asterisk are required.

Application sent.

Your application reached us. We listen to every piece of material that comes in.

Getting here

Where to find us.

Mickiewicza 9 lok. U1 in Żoliborz. It is a 600 meter walk from Gdanski railway station, so you can get here by train from outside Warsaw. Metro and tram stops are at the door.

Other specializations

You do something other than engineering.

We keep separate rosters of voice actors, dubbing actors, vocalists, instrumentalists, graphic designers and video crews. Signing up takes a moment, and we get in touch when a project comes along that fits your specialization.

Questions

The questions we get most often.

Do I need commercial experience?

No. We need material you engineered yourself, and we need to hear that you understand what you are doing.

Do I need clients of my own?

Not at the start. Without them you begin with sessions here and with work alongside sessions run by other people, and you build regular clients along the way. With a base already built you go straight to the second rung.

Do I have to live in Warsaw?

Not at the start. You have to be able to reach sessions that run into the evening and the night. The studio sits 600 meters from Gdanski railway station, so getting here by train from outside the city is workable.

How much does a room cost for a collaborator?

On the second rung you rent the room at a rate lower than the standard one. The exact amount is agreed in conversation, because it depends on which rooms you work in and how many sessions you run per month.

How long does the way to the next rung take?

There is no single deadline, because material and work decide it, not seniority. You put your name forward when you decide there is something to talk about, and we review it based on your sessions and on what your clients say.

What do you work on?

The Master Room runs L707A Signature speakers, a monitoring chain on the Ravenna protocol, a Merging Horus interface and Mytek converters. Studio 1 has a collection of analog gear, near-field and mid-field monitors and a live-sounding booth, and Studio 2 has a control room with mid-field monitors and a damped booth.
